wobbly bridgeI was born in Wisconsin in the US and Williamsville, NY was home for many years.

I did a BA in History at Williams College in Massachusetts before working for a year with the homeless in Portland, Oregon.  After that, two years of teaching English in China (Qingdao, Shandong Province) preceded a year working with refugees in Buffalo, NY.  Then it was on to Britain, a BD at New College, University of Edinburgh and a PhD in Hebrew/Old Testament.  I have been at St. P’s since May of 2003.

St Philips ChurchSt. P’s is in the Presbytery of Edinburgh and is a part of the Church of Scotland.  Not only do we host more than 30 organisations in our extensive hall complex, but we aim to provide a mix of worship styles.  There are short, quiet communion services on Sundays at 9.30am and our 11am service (10.30 in July and August) is typically informal but traditional.  Family services frequently take place at 11am and four times a year we have innovative communions, following the styles of the emerging churches.  These different approaches complement each other and speak of our faith to a diverse community in a variety of forms.
